Filmmaker Dinesh Vijan and actor Rajkummar Rao are teaming up once again, this time for a biopic on ‘Ujjwal Nikam’, one of India’s most well-known lawyers. Nikam has handled several high-profile criminal cases, making his story full of drama and courtroom intensity. Directed by Avinash Arun, the film will start shooting in October 2025, with casting and preparations already in progress.

Wamiqa joins Ujjwal Nikam biopic

According to Pinkvilla, reports suggest that Wamiqa Gabbi has been finalized as the female lead in the upcoming ‘Ujjwal Nikam’ biopic starring Rajkummar Rao. Industry insiders indicate that the duo, who previously shared strong chemistry in ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’, will reunite in a fresh setting. Preparations include acting workshops scheduled for September before filming begins in October 2025.

Insiders reveal that both Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi are expected to undergo notable transformations to bring realism to their roles. The biopic will highlight the journey of ‘Ujjwal Nikam’, focusing on his legacy as one of India’s most respected lawyers. The narrative is said to cover his involvement in major cases, including the 1993 Bombay Blasts and the 2008 Mumbai Train Attacks.

Dinesh Vijan and Rajkummar Rao have worked together on films like ‘Made In China’, ‘Raabta’, and ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’. With the upcoming ‘Ujjwal Nikam’ biopic, they are now joining hands for their sixth project together.
