Diljit Dosanjh on headlining London’s Wembley Stadium: 'My mom used to say whenever you have a problem, something good happens'

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh will perform at London’s Wembley Stadium on September 12, 2026 — a first for South Asian artists. Announcing it at his Toronto show, Diljit called it historic, emotionally recalling his mother’s belief in him, though she’d never heard of Wembley.

As Diljit Dosanjh gears up for his much-anticipated performance at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium, the singer described the milestone as a historic moment for Punjabi artists everywhere. Adding a heartfelt touch, he recalled his mother’s words of unwavering belief that he was meant for a grand stage, even though she had never heard of Wembley Stadium.

Diljit Dosanjh breaks the big news at his Toronto show

He took to social media to post a clip from his Toronto show, where he broke the exciting news to the crowd gathered there. “We are doing Wembley Stadium London here. Michael Jackson performed there. Prince performed there. The Queen’s Band performs there. Wembley Stadium, for the first time in the history of South Asian artists, especially Punjabis, Wembley Stadium London,” he announced to his fans.

Michael Jackson, the legendary King Of Pop, graced Wembley Stadium with seven back-to-back sold-out performances as part of his iconic Bad World Tour in July 1988, pulling in a massive combined audience of over 504,000 fans. Prince, on the other hand, took the Wembley Stadium open-air stage just once, delivering a memorable performance in 1993. The iconic British rock band Queen also left their mark on the venue with several unforgettable shows at Wembley Stadium.Diljit added: “My mother used to say at home. She used to say, whenever you have a problem, or something good happens, I used to think, my son is getting so much trouble, something good is going to happen. “I used to say, yes mom, something good is going to happen. I used to say, mom, I am going to a big place. I am going to Wembley Stadium. She doesn’t know what Wembley Stadium is.”Keeping his caption short and sweet, Diljit let the news do all the talking: “THANK YOU SO MUCH TORONTO I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. BIG NEWS. WE ARE DOING WEMBLEY STADIUM LONDON. 12th September 2026 (sic).”
