Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s wedding pics resurface

Photos of Abhishek and Ash in their royal wedding ensembles resurfaced online after eagle-eyed fans drew comparisons between the actor’s wedding accessories and a striking jewellery piece – previously a part of the Nizam of Hyderabad’s crown jewels – was spotted at the Met Gala 2026.The renewed fascination for the pearl, diamond and emerald piece emerged after netizens noticed that Bachchan wore a strikingly similar kalgi on his turban, during his 2007 wedding ceremonies with Aishwarya. The archival photos from the star couple’s lavish Mumbai wedding, has now joined the online debated about the famed jewels of the Nizam.

Abhishek Bachchan’s royal wedding look

While there has been no official confirmation regarding the said piece of jewellery, designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla famously spoke about turning Abhishek and Aishwarya’s wedding into a royal affair. The designers highlighted the intricacy of the groom’s attire. “He had some of the best jewellery that there was. He wore phenomenal pieces, which Abu and I sourced. It was the first time someone wore a Mughal tumbler bead necklace. There were ruby buttons on Abhishek’s sherwani,” Abu recalled. While the dashing groom rocked diamonds, rubies, pearls and other precious stones, the beautiful bride was adorned in gold. Aishwarya famously opted for a traditional gold-woven Kanjeevaram saree, which she accessorised with heavy gold jewellery.

Patiala necklace stirs controversy at Met Gala 2025

While this year, the Nizam’s headpiece made waves at the Met Gala, last year, another controversy was kicked up after Punjabi star, Dilji Dosanjh was reportedly denied the permission to wear the iconic 1928 Cartier Patiala Necklace for the 2025 Met Gala because it was part of a long-term loan to the Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum in London and not available for loan, The New York Times stated. Netizens were up in arms that Diljit was denied the piece, but Emma Chamberlain was able to wear pieces of it, back in 2022 during her Met appearance.Nonetheless, Diljit still wore a custom outfit and a replica necklace from Golecha Jewels to honour his roots.
