‘Dhurandhar 2’ week 1 box office round-up: Every possible record broken

'Dhurandhar 2' week 1 box office round-up: Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan film breaks every possible record, inches towards Rs 800 crore

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has proved to be nothing short of a juggernaut. The Aditya Dhar directorial starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi and others has even performed better at the box office than its predecessor. It released on March 19, however, there were paid previews on March 18 and with that, the film is set to end its first week. With this, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has broken every possible record that exists and created history. Till Thursday evening, the India net collection of the film is Rs 654.03 crore while the domestic gross collection is Rs 780.71 crore. By the end of Thursday, the film will cross Rs 700 crore net minimum in the country with around Rs 14,170 shows, according to Sacnilk. The Hindi version of the Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ itself had made Rs 425 crore in a week’s time. Meanwhile, the total of all languages in 7 days was around Rs 688 crore net. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ will beat this net collection by Friday. It has already become the biggest first week grosser in a single language though and beaten the worldwide gross of ‘Pushpa 2’ which is Rs 1000 crore. This is monumental as ‘Dhurandhar 2’ became the fastest Indian film to achieve this feat. Some of the records broken by the film include the biggest paid preview at the Indian box office, the biggest opening for any film in Hindi at the Indian box office. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is also the first movie ever to score Rs 100 + crore net in a single day in Hindi. But there’s more! It’s the first movie to score Rs 100 crore net for two consecutive days and the only film to do so. These are just some of the benchmarks set by the film. Which means that ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has left past ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘Animal’, ‘Stree 2’ and other biggies of recent times. ‘Pushpa 2’ has been its biggest competitor and it has already beaten its worldwide collection. Clearly, the film has set a new benchmark when it comes to Indian cinema and their potential to get numbers at the box office, despite the ban in UAE which is a huge market for our films.
