Cocaine trafficking row: Srikanth, Krishna summoned by ED

Cocaine trafficking row: Tamil actors Srikanth and Krishna Kumar summoned by ED in money laundering case

Tamil actors K. Srikanth and Krishna Kumar are summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in a money laundering case connected to alleged cocaine trafficking, officials confirmed on Friday.

When are Srikanth and Krishna Kumar set to appear for questioning?

As reported by PTI, Srikanth, 46, is scheduled to appear on October 27, while Krishna Kumar is asked to appear on October 28. Their statements will be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), as the federal agency investigates possible financial links to the ongoing drug case.

Investigation connected to cocaine and arrests

The case began after Chennai Police filed an FIR in June over alleged cocaine trafficking. Both actors, along with others, were arrested during the investigation. In July, the Madras High Court granted conditional bail to Srikanth and Krishna Kumar. The court noted that no drugs were found with them and their involvement seemed limited. A former AIADMK functionary, T. Prasad, was also arrested for allegedly supplying cocaine to Srikanth and others.

Film careers of Srikanth and Krishna Kumar

Srikanth, aged 46, has acted in many Tamil films, including romantic dramas, thrillers, and action movies. His notable films include ‘Manasellam,’ ‘Varnajalam,’ ‘Kana Kandein,’ ‘Oru Naal Kanavu,’ ‘Bambara Kannale,’ ‘Mercury Pookkal,’ ‘East Coast Road,’ ‘Poo,’ and ‘Sathurangam.’ Krishna Kumar has also made a mark in Tamil cinema.
