'Border 2' box office collection day 1 (LIVE): The Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan starrer starts on a good note with advance bookings better than 'Dhurandhar'

Sunny Deol starred ‘Border 2’ also starring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty has now released in theatres. Since the last one and a half month, it was only ‘Dhurandhar’ which was dominating at the box office. But now, with the release of ‘Border 2’, the Ranveer Singh starrer saw a decline in its seventh week, and the run has been commendable. But the advance bookings of ‘Border 2’ started on a grand note, largely owing to how iconic the first part has been. ‘Border 2’ has a wide release worldwide in across 4500 screens and there are huge expectations attached as it’s also a solo release amidst the upcoming long weekend with Republic Day around the corner. As per Sacnilk, the advance booking trends suggest a strong opening for ‘Border 2’ at the domestic box office. The film has already locked in an All-India gross of Rs 12.5 crore for day one, backed by the sale of 4,09,117 tickets across 16,221 shows nationwide. The Hindi 2D version is leading the charge, contributing nearly Rs 12.45 crore on its own. Now on the opening day, the film has made Rs 7.24 crore so far in the afternoon shows. Trade experts are calling the release timing a strategic win. Early projections indicate that the opening day numbers could push close to the Rs 35 crore mark, while the cumulative haul over the long weekend is expected to comfortably cross Rs 125 crore. With such a powerful start on the cards, Border 2 is shaping up to be more than just a hit sequel, potentially placing itself among the biggest earners in the history of Indian cinema.Meanwhile, ‘Dhurnadhar’ has now crossed Rs 830 crore. With ‘Border 2’ taking over the screens across the country and worldwide, on Friday, day 50, the film has just made Rs 1 lakh so far in the morning.
