Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been reported missing in Tucson since February 1. She was last seen on January 31. No suspect has been identified as of now.

As per 12 News, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said on Saturday that barricades are being put up near Nancy Guthrie’s home when the search entered day 21. On Sunday, the department said detectives and agents were back at the Guthrie’s neighborhood “canvassing as part of the investigation.”

Investigation update

PCSD mentioned that volunteer search parties have requested to be in the area, “but this work is best left to professionals”, said the department, asking to give investigators their space. PCSD added that private property laws still apply, and each property owner must grant permission for anyone to be on their premises. Officials also noted that the roadway near her home is being turned into a one-way street to accommodate residents and public service vehicles.

Why is the search for Nancy Guthrie taking so much time?

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos admitted that solving the Nancy Guthrie case may take time. According to Hindustan Times, he stated that locating Nancy could take “weeks or months or years,” highlighting that the investigations of this nature are unpredictable. Further, he explained that the same could potentially resolve in “an hour from now,” reflecting its unpredictability.Meanwhile, the authorities have requested that residents within a two-mile radius of Nancy’s home submit any unusual security footage recorded between January 1 and February 2, 2026.

Officials are reviewing more than 20 persons of interest

Federal agents are reportedly reviewing more than 20 individuals whose photos resemble the masked figure. Image packets have been circulated to local gun shops and retailers in an effort to cross-reference recent purchases. However, no arrests have been formally made.
