AR Murugadoss reveals he wanted to quit ‘Dheena’ until Sasi’s advice

AR Murugadoss reveals he wanted to quit 'Dheena'; credits Sasi for saving Ajith’s blockbuster at 'Nooru Sami' event

The pre-release event of ‘Nooru Sami,’ which is directed by Sasi and starring Vijay Antony, featured many heartwarming speeches by popular filmmakers. One such director was A. R. Murugadoss, who shared with everyone how Sasi had been a friend to him for a long time and how he always helped him during his tough times. This director also appreciated the movie and the role of Sasi in his success as a filmmaker. The film is scheduled for release on June 19 and has already generated strong interest among audiences.

How Sasi’s advice convinced AR Murugadoss to continue ‘Dheena’

During his speech, Murugadoss recalled a challenging period while making ‘Dheena’ starring Ajith Kumar. “There was a time when I seriously thought of dropping Dheena. I felt certain things were not working and believed the film might not happen. At that moment, I met Sasi and shared my worries with him,” he said. Murugadoss then revealed the advice that changed his mindset. “Sasi told me, ‘If you walk away from a film without fighting for it, that itself is a defeat. Keep trying till the end. If you feel 70 percent of the film is coming out right, audiences may see it as 100 percent.’ Those words gave me confidence. Sasi is the reason I continued Dheena,” he said, drawing applause from the audience.

AR Murugadoss recalls Sasi’s support during his early struggles

AR Murugadoss also shared how Sasi stood by him when he was trying to build a career in cinema. Recalling those days, he said, “Sasi became a director before me. One day, I told him that I wanted to make films and become a director. He simply said, ‘Very good, keep trying and work hard.’” Murugadoss added that Sasi’s support did not stop with words of encouragement. “Later, he told me, ‘You are leaving your job and stepping into the cinema. If you ever need money or any kind of help, call me anytime. But don’t go hungry,” he recalled. Murugadoss said those words stayed with him for years and gave him immense confidence. “Having Sasi’s support felt like having the phone number of a Chief Minister in your pocket. That is how much courage his words gave me during a very uncertain period of my life,” he said.

AR Murugadoss praises ‘Nooru Sami’ and Swasika’s performance

AR Murugadoss also had special praise for actress Swasika, saying her performance in ‘Nooru Sami’ was exceptional. He predicted that she could be among the strongest contenders during the upcoming awards season. The filmmaker further described ‘Nooru Sami’ as a story rooted in real-life emotions and appreciated the film’s heartfelt narrative. Apart from bringing into light the respect that he had for Sasi as a director, his speech also conveyed his respect and appreciation of him as an individual. It is safe to say that this tribute was one of the main attractions of the occasion as well. Go to Source
