Prarthana hails ‘Dhurandhar’, says, ‘NOT to judge such films like critics’

''Dhurandhar' reminds you to enjoy cinema as an audience, not judge it as critic: 'Mardini' star Prarthana Behere - Exclusive

After delivering two successful Marathi films this year, Prarthana Behere is now gearing up for what she hopes will be another milestone in her career with the upcoming Marathi film ‘Mardini’. Backed by actor-producer Shreyas Talpade, the film revolves around motherhood and the extraordinary lengths a mother goes to protect her child.Speaking about the project, Prarthana expressed immense excitement, calling it one of the most significant films of her career. At the same time, she reflected on the evolving landscape of Indian cinema and praised films like ‘Dhurandhar’ for pushing creative boundaries.

Sharing her thoughts on where cinema is headed today, Prarthana said, “I’ve been associated with the industry for many years. Before becoming an actor, I was a journalist and even reviewed films. Because of our experience, we often end up judging films as critics rather than simply enjoying them as audiences. But films like ‘Dhurandhar’ remind you to watch cinema as an audience member. When you do that, you feel, ‘Wow, this is something different. Indian cinema is moving in an exciting direction.'”She added, “I feel proud when such films are made. Everyone has different tastes. A film that I enjoy may not necessarily appeal to someone else. Ultimately, cinema is about entertainment. The important thing is how effectively it entertains the audience. Indian cinema is doing remarkably well today, and I’m happy to be a part of this industry.”

Prarthana Behere speaks on ‘Mardini’

Talking about ‘Mardini’, the actress said she is thrilled about the opportunity and views it as a major turning point in her journey.”Very excited. As I mentioned, I started my career as a journalist. To go from there to headlining a film as ‘Prarthana Behere in and as Mardini’ is a huge milestone for me,” she said. The actress also revealed that audiences will get to see her in a completely new light. “People have mostly seen me in glamorous roles until now. This film presents me in a completely different avatar.”For Prarthana, 2026 has already been a memorable year. “‘Mardini’ is my third film of the year. My previous two films performed very well, including my home-production venture. So I feel fortunate to have received opportunities like this, and I’m confident audiences will appreciate it.”Adding to the emotional significance of the film is her reunion with child actor Myra. The duo has shared screen space before, and Prarthana believes that existing bond helped bring authenticity to their on-screen relationship.”There’s a lot of nostalgia because Myra and I are reuniting on screen. Audiences instantly connect us with our previous work together. In fact, that emotional connection made my job easier while playing her mother. I’ve always looked at her like my own child, so I didn’t have to artificially create that bond. It already existed naturally between us,” she concluded. Go to Source
