Ananya Panday on choosing Gauri Khan to design home

Ananya Panday on choosing Gauri Khan to design home: Actress says picking star designer was 'sentimental'; calls her ‘second mother’

Back in 2023, Ananya Panday let fans in on a big milestone – the purchase of her own house in Mumbai. She shared that the interiors of her new home were designed by none other than Gauri Khan. In a conversation with NIF Global, Ananya spoke about the experience of working with Gauri, whom she lovingly refers to as her “second mother,” while setting up her dream space.

Ananya’s sentimental decision

In the interview, Panday was asked about getting Gauri to do her home. She opened up saying, “Honestly, for me, it was a sentimental decision.” She went on to explain, “I have grown up around her and she has almost been a second mother to me. Adding more, she said that Gauri understood her tastes on a very personal level, almost as if she were designing the house for her own daughter, Suhana Khan.

The making process

Ananya said she really liked how Gauri treated her during the process. Even though she had known her since she was a child, she took her seriously and understood that it was her first home, so she didn’t impose her own ideas but let Ananya make her own choices. “Interior design is such a personal thing, where it might be like a project for you, but it is also someone’s home where they will be spending every single day. So understanding the person’s personality is very important.”

All love for Gauri Khan

The ‘Dream Girl 2’ actress also thanked Gauri for designing her house and penned a caption that reads, “My first home… my dream home (red heart emoji)… thank you @gaurikhan… no one could have understood exactly what I wanted better than you… and made it so so so special for me… you’re the best, love you!!!”

Ananya’s work diaries

The actress will be seen next opposite Kartik Aaryan in ‘Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri’. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, the film is set to hit theatres on February 13, 2026.
