‘Abhishek-Aishwarya never commented on divorce speculations,’ here’s why

'Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan didn't comment on divorce speculations, she's always kept her dignity,' says Prahlad Kakkar: 'She's the bahu'

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fell in love when they worked together on ‘Umrao Jaan’ and ‘Guru’ and soon tied the knot in 2007. While they’ve been happily married for the past 18 years now, there were a lot of rumours last year regarding their divorce. Both the actors have chosen to maintain a dignified silence on the matter. But in their own way, they’ve also slammed these rumours silently. In a recent interview, ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar has reacted to these speculations. Kakkar who has known Aishwarya since her modelling days admitted to being protective of her. He had in a way launched her in a commercial which became huge and post that, she was quite a sensation already. Several reports had suggested that Aishwarya is stepping away from her marriage and living at her mother’s house. Kakkar who lives in the same building as Aishwarya’s mother Vrinda Rai has steered clear on it and called reports of their divorce ‘rubbish’. He said in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, “I live in her building and I know how much time she spends in the building. She comes to her mother’s house because her mother is not keeping well. Aishwarya would drop her daughter to school and then would go and pick her up. In between she had time to kill so she would visit her mother, spend time with her mom. She then picks up her daughter and goes home. I know how close she is to her mom and is concerned about her.”

Abhishek Bachchan Breaks Silence On Divorce Rumours With Aishwarya Rai

When he was further questioned that rumour had it that Aishwarya was considering the divorce as she had problems with Jaya Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Reacting to it, he said, “So what? She is the bahu of the house and she still runs the house. I knew there was no truth in it. Because I knew why she was there. People were saying she was scapegoating from her marriage and living with her mother. She wasn’t living with her mother. She was just coming and spending time with her while her daughter was at school. And she didn’t come on Sundays. I knew her concerns for her mother. Sometimes, Abhishek also came with her to visit her mother. Kakkar admitted, “If you notice, neither Abhishek nor Aishwarya have given a comment on this. Why should they? Tum Bhaukte raho. She has always kept her dignity and journalists hated her for that.” Abhishek and Aishwarya have a daughter, Aaradhya. Recently, Abhishek Aishwarya along with their daughter were seen at the airport as they returned from a holiday. On work front, Aishwarya has been largely away from the movies ever since Aaradhya’s birth and has chosen quality over quantity. She was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Meanwhile, Abhishek was last seen in ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’.
