Neeraj’s performance reminded everyone of his silver-winning throw at the 2022 World Championships and his historic gold at the 2023 edition. He is now once again being considered a top contender for a medal in the final of the 2025 event. The final is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, at 3:53 PM IST.

Neeraj finishes third in Group A

Neeraj secured third place in the Group A qualification round, while Germany’s Julian Weber led the qualifiers with 87.21m, followed by Poland’s Dawid Wegner, who threw a personal best of 85.67m. Other notable performances came from Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic (84.11m, season best) and Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago (83.93m).

Fellow Indian athlete Sachin Yadav narrowly missed automatic qualification with 83.67m throw. However, the top 12 athletes from both groups will advance to the final even if they miss the qualifying mark, so Sachin still has a chance.
