Liverpool reportedly suffer fresh jolt in pursuit of Alexander Isak as Newcastle sustain transfer setback

With the summer transfer window nearing its close, the saga surrounding Alexander Isak remains unresolved. Will Isak move to Liverpool before the conclusion of the transfer window?

The summer transfer window is about to come to a close, but the Alexander Isak saga is as muddled as ever. Isak is currently in direct dispute with his club Newcastle, as the striker is reportedly pushing for a move to Liverpool. However, the Magpies are not willing to sell him as they do not have reinforcements available to replace the player.

Moreover, Isak’s hopes of getting a green signal for an exit have met with a further setback as Newcastle’s attempts to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen reportedly facing continued resistance from Wolves.

Isak to Liverpool, possible but difficult

Newcastle’s interest in Strand Larsen seemingly developed following their failed attempt to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford. Wolves have so far rejected two bids for Larsen; thus, the chances of Newcastle securing the player do not look too promising at the moment, despite the player’s expressed desire to move to St. James’ Park.

Wolves seem obstinate in their stance with Strand Larsen. Nonetheless, Newcastle are reportedly ready to make a last-ditch effort to sign the player, and as per reports, the club is preparing an improved £60 million bid for the player.

Wolves are not letting Strand Larsen go because they do not have an ideal replacement available. Moreover, given that the player scored 14 goals in his maiden season in English football, it will be a daunting task to find a replacement in such a short period. Hence, no luck for Newcastle, and the chain reaction would extend to Liverpool.

Liverpool are keen on forming an attack centered around Isak, but the complications may keep Isak at Newcastle this season. However, the Reds are expected to submit a new bid for the player. Newcastle have previously rejected a £110 million bid from Liverpool.

With a little more than 72 hours left before the closing of the summer transfer window, it will be intriguing to witness whether Liverpool will be able to land Isak or not. Isak has not played for Newcastle this season, and should he stay, it will be a monumental task for him to win over the management and the fans, considering he openly refused to play for the club.
