A recent photo of US President Donald Trump has reignited public speculation about his health, particularly due to a visible discolored patch of skin and bruising on his hand.
The image was posted on X on Saturday by Vice President JD Vance, who shared a moment from a dinner he and his wife, Usha, hosted for Trump and the First Lady Melania at the Vice President’s Residence.

However, the joyful image was soon overshadowed by concerns over Trump’s hands, which appeared visibly discolored and bruised. Social media users were quick to comment, with reactions ranging from humorous to genuinely concerned.
“It’s almost Halloween,” one user joked. Another speculated, “Looks like makeup over bruising,” while others wondered whether the marks could point to underlying health issues.
Amid growing questions, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to the rumors.
“President Trump is a man of the people,” Karoline said, adding that he demonstrates his constant dedication every day. “He has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day,” she added.
Medical experts, however, voiced skepticism about this explanation, news outlet Irish Star reported.
Dr. Neal Patel, a primary care physician from Orange County, California, told Irish Star, “Shaking too many hands is a bit of a stretch. President Trump has had something like this in the past, and from my experience and my patients, I would put that lower on the list of possibilities.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Boback Berookhim, a urologist based in New York, offered a different take in an interview with the *Daily Mail*. “They are probably attempting to conceal some bruises on his hand,” he said. “It could be from a blood draw, an insect bite, or from hitting his hand against something,” he added, noting that it could stem from routine medical monitoring or treatment.
While the cause remains unclear, the photo has renewed attention on Trump’s health as he continues public appearances and campaign efforts.
