Hezbollah Says Trump’s Gaza Plan ‘Full Of Danger,’ Designed To Suit Israel’s Project

Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qassem on Saturday criticised US President Donald Trump’s plan for a political solution in Gaza, warning it poses “serious dangers” for Palestinians.

Qassem claimed that Trump’s proposal includes “amendments that suit Israel’s project,” arguing that the plan is designed to give Israel what it could not achieve through months of devastating military operations.

“What Israel wants to achieve politically, after it failed to achieve this via military operations, genocide, and atrocities in Gaza, is being packaged through this so-called political solution,” Qassem said.

Hezbollah, a close ally of Hamas and Iran, has consistently rejected US-backed peace initiatives in the region, accusing Washington of shielding Israel from accountability while Palestinians face bombardment and displacement.

Meanwhile, Hamas had announced on Friday that it accepted some elements of Trump’s peace plan, including the release of all remaining hostages, though other aspects would require further negotiations.

Under the plan, Israel would halt its offensive and withdraw from parts of Gaza, while the territory would be placed under international governance, overseen by Trump and Tony Blair.

On Friday, Trump had said that Hamas must agree to the proposed peace deal by Sunday evening, threatening an even greater military onslaught.

The territory of some two million Palestinians would be placed under international governance, with Trump himself and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair overseeing it. The plan provides no path for eventual reunification with the Israeli-occupied West Bank in a future Palestinian state, according to The Associated Press.

Earlier, a Hamas official had told AP that some elements of the plan are unacceptable and need to be amended.
