Sharing a photo of the meeting on X, PM Modi described it as a productive interaction. “Happy to meet Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at the World Food India 2025. We discussed ways to strengthen our win-win cooperation in agriculture, fertilizers and food processing,” he wrote.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) released a press note confirming the discussion and highlighting the warm ties between the two countries.

PM Modi also conveyed his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed his anticipation of welcoming him to India for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.

The World Food India event, now in its fourth edition, has become a significant platform for promoting India’s food processing sector. Speaking at the event, PM Modi invited global investors to explore opportunities in India’s vast food industry. He emphasised India’s strengths of diversity, demand, and scale, making it an ideal destination for investment.

Modi urged the food industry to focus on innovation, particularly in adopting biodegradable and environmentally friendly packaging materials. He underlined the government’s commitment to supporting the sector, noting that India’s food processing capacity has increased twentyfold over the past decade, while exports of processed food products have doubled.

India’s start-up ecosystem is the third largest in the world, and many of these new enterprises are working in food and agriculture, contributing to global food security. PM Modi reiterated India’s openness to investment and collaboration, calling it the right time to invest in the country.
