Middle East conflict: Islamabad Talks Enter Crucial Phase as Iran–US Ceasefire Hangs in Balance

The fourth day of the Middle East ceasefire has reached a decisive moment as high-level peace talks begin in Islamabad between the United States and Iran. Scheduled to start around 11 AM, the meeting is being closely watched worldwide to determine whether the temporary truce will evolve into lasting peace or collapse into renewed conflict. The US delegation is being led by Vice President JD Vance, while Iran is represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. As the host nation, Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir are also participating in the talks. A large Iranian delegation of around 70 members has arrived, underlining the importance of the negotiations. While Israel is not directly present, its position is expected to be conveyed through the US side, particularly on issues related to regional security and Lebanon. The outcome of these talks will determine whether the ceasefire is extended into a structured peace agreement or if tensions in the Middle East escalate once again.
