Sharif’s Self-Humiliation Moments
SCO Summit 2025: During the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China, a viral video showed Shehbaz Sharif hurriedly approaching Putin for a handshake after a photo session.
Social media users trolled him for appearing “desperate” and “attention-seeking,” with some noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping seemed to ignore him by turning away.
Caught Using VPN: Shehbaz Sharif posted a congratulatory message to US President Donald Trump on X, despite Pakistan’s ban on the platform since February 2024. The post was flagged by X with a Community Note accusing him of illegally using X through a VPN.
The incident sparked widespread memes and criticism for hypocrisy, as Sharif himself bypassed Pakistani government-led restrictions imposed on the public.
PoK Embarrassment: During an event in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), PoK Prime Minister Sardar Ilyas Tanveer disrupted Shehbaz Sharif’s speech, reportedly upset over the lack of rehabilitation for locals affected by the Mangla Dam.
The public interruption was seen as embarrassing for Sharif, highlighting tensions within Pakistan’s administration.
Comparing India To Pakistan: In a rally in Dera Ghazi Khan, Sharif declared, “If we don’t leave India behind, then my name is not Shehbaz Sharif,” vowing to surpass India in development.
The statement went viral, drawing sarcasm and ridicule online, with users mocking Pakistan’s economic struggles and questioning the feasibility of his claims.
Copying PM Modi: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur airbase in May, Sharif, accompanied by Army Chief Asim Munir, toured Pakistan’s Pasrur and Sialkot airbases.
Social media users pointed out that after Sharif claimed massive damage at India’s Adampur air base, PM Modi visited the site to show it was untouched. Sharif was soon trolled for “copying” Modi and spreading false claims, with one X user dubbing it a “masterclass in self-humiliation”.
Another moment from the SCO Summit 2025 showed Sharif with a grim expression while PM Modi engaged in a warm exchange with Putin and Xi Jinping.
Viral videos highlighted his apparent sidelining, fuelling narratives of diplomatic isolation and online trolling for appearing out of place among other leaders.
