Ahead of Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recounted how a dhaba stop during their journey from Ahmedabad to Rajkot in Gujarat taught him a lesson that has become an integral part of his life.

Shah said Modi gave him a “sensitive lesson” on how the care of karyakartas was first and foremost, as it fostered “trust, belonging, and dedication”.

“That episode of the journey to Rajkot, when Modi ji gave this sensitive lesson that in the organization, one should take care of the workers before oneself. That lesson of his has become an integral part of my life today,” Shah wrote on X in Hindi (translated by Grok), sharing a video clip of his interview with the ‘Modi Story’ channel.

“Trust, belonging, and dedication—these are the soul of the organization, and this is Modi’s greatest teaching,” he said.

Shah spoke about how it was Modi’s usual practice to stop by a party worker’s house to share a meal during his journeys. Once, during their journey from Ahmedabad to Rajkot, they stopped at a dhaba owned by a party worker, he said.

He said while Modi ate some fruit and water, he had a full meal, and it was only later he realised that it was the Prime Minister’s subtle way of fostering empathy among colleagues. Whatever he did was for the benefit of the accompanying party workers, so that they had an opportunity to eat and recharge, he said. His experience highlighted the PM’s consideration for others without having to be explicit about it, he added.
