Police Probe Jealousy and Family Tension as Possible Motive for the Killing

A tragedy in Bidar, Karnataka, has taken a shocking turn from a supposed accident to an alleged murder. On August 27, seven-year-old Shanavi died after falling from the third floor of a building in Adarsh Colony. What her family initially described as a slip while playing is now at the center of a chilling investigation.

On that Sunday afternoon, residents of Adarsh Colony heard a thud and rushed to find young Shanavi lying on the ground. She was declared dead shortly after. Her father, Siddhanth Buvar, told police she had been playing on the terrace and must have fallen. With no immediate evidence to the contrary, the police registered the case as an accidental death.

A Neighbor’s CCTV Changes Everything

Two weeks later, on September 12, a neighbor shared a crucial piece of evidence, a CCTV recording from a nearby building. The video allegedly shows Shanavi’s stepmother, Radha, moments before the fall.

In the footage, Radha appears to place a basket upside down on a chair and seat Shanavi on it. Seconds later, the girl plunges from the third floor.

The revelation stunned the family and the community. What looked like a misstep now appeared to be a deliberate act.

Complaint and Police Action

Shanavi’s grandmother, Vijayashree Suresh Toogaoonve, immediately filed a complaint at the Bidar Gandhi Ganj police station. Acting on this new evidence, officers took Radha into custody for questioning. Investigators are reviewing the footage and interviewing neighbors to piece together the timeline of events.

Shanavi’s biological mother died of illness six years ago. Siddhanth remarried in 2023, and he and Radha now have twin children together. Police suspect that jealousy or tension surrounding the new family dynamics could be a motive, though they are careful to note that the investigation is ongoing.

From Tragedy to Criminal Probe

The case highlights how modern surveillance can change the course of justice. What began as a heartbreaking but seemingly accidental death now stands as a suspected homicide. Radha remains in police custody as investigators gather evidence and await forensic analysis of the CCTV footage.

For the Buvar family and the Bidar community, a day of innocent play turned into an enduring nightmare, one that may end in a courtroom rather than quiet mourning.
