Srinagar Police Attach Property Worth Rs 2 Crore Linked To Pahalgam Mastermind

Srinagar Police have attached a three-storey residential house valued at approximately Rs 2 crore, linked to Pahalgam attack mastermind Sheikh Sajjad Gul.

Srinagar Police have attached a three-storey residential house valued at approximately Rs 2 crore, linked to designated terrorist Sajad Ahmad Sheikh aka Sajjad Gul, the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, as part of its goal to dismantle terror networks and their support structures, according to an official release.

Police attached the property that was constructed over 15 marlas of land under Survey No. 43, Estate Khushipora, in Rose Avenue of Srinagar’s HMT area. This property belonged to Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, father of Sajjad Gul, as per revenue records and verification from Tehsildar Central, Shalteng, Srinagar.

The proceedings were initiated under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), empowering authorities to attach properties used or intended to be used for terrorist activities. The operation was conducted in the presence of the concerned Executive Magistrate, as required by law.

Who Is Sajjad Gul?

Sheikh Sajjad Gul, a 50-year-old Kashmiri and the head of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s The Resistance Front (TRF), was identified as the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 tourists were inhumanely gunned down after being asked about their religion.

Sajjad Gul is a designated terrorist who has been facilitating terrorist activities and coordinating with handlers across the border. The NIA had designated him a terrorist in April 2022 and kept a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

He has also planned several terror attacks, including targeted killings between 2020 and 2024 in Central and South Kashmir, grenade attacks in Central Kashmir in 2023 and more.

Gul completed his education in Srinagar and did an MBA from Bengaluru. He then completed a lab technician course in Kerala before returning to Kashmir, where he started providing logistical support to the Lashkar-e-Taiba. He was caught by the Delhi Police in 2002 with 5 kg of RDX.

It was revealed that he was conducting a recce and conspiring to conduct serial blasts in the national capital, for which he was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on August 7, 2003. After his release from prison, he moved to Pakistan and became the leader of the TRF in the aftermath of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.
