An inbound SpiceJet flight from New Delhi carrying more than 200 passengers made an emergency landing at the Srinagar airport on Friday after the crew reported a technical issue mid-air.

The incident took place when the flight, SG 385, flying from New Delhi to Srinagar with 205 passengers on board, was mid-air. The passengers, including four children, and seven crew on board, reportedly experienced a sudden drop in altitude, triggering panic.

According to officials, the crew then requested priority landing. Despite the scare, the flight landed safely at Srinagar airport at 3:27 pm, and no injuries were reported.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been notified, and a technical inspection of the aircraft is underway to determine the cause of the issue.

SpiceJet Issues Statement

The airline also issued a statement, saying that the aircraft experienced a rapid descent during approach following a rise in cabin altitude, which triggered a cabin altitude warning.

“The crew carried out all necessary checks in accordance with standard operating procedures, and the Captain requested priority landing as a precautionary measure. The aircraft landed safely in Srinagar and passengers and crew disembarked normally,” it said.

“No medical assistance was requested by passengers or the crew on board the flight,” the officials said.
