In Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district, lack of road connectivity forced pregnant woman to deliver baby on the roadside before reaching the hospital.

In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman in Telangana gave birth to a baby on the road as the ambulance could not reach their village due to no road connectivity.

The incident took place at Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district when she was being carried to the hospital in a ‘doli’ (makeshift stretcher) through a forest stretch due to the unavailability of an ambulance.

As the woman’s labour pains worsened and her condition deteriorated, the people helped her, and she gave birth to a baby on the roadside.

Later, an ambulance, however, reached the spot and transported the woman and the newborn to the Satyanarayanapuram Government Hospital.

In a similar incident from Sangareddy district last month, people of a remote village carried a pregnant woman on their shoulders for two kilometres to reach an ambulance, as the hamlet has no road connectivity.

When the woman developed labour pain, villagers began carrying her towards an ambulance waiting two kilometres away. However, she delivered a baby girl in the agricultural fields midway, assisted by ASHA workers and local women. The mother and newborn were then carried to the ambulance and shifted to the area hospital in Narayankhed for treatment.
