Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Bihar, inaugurated the Aunta–Simaria bridge in Gaya on Friday.

According to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Member, Anil Choudhary, the bridge has been constructed parallel to the old two-lane rail-cum-road bridge ‘Rajendra Setu’. ‘Rajendra Setu’ is in poor condition, forcing heavy vehicles to re-route.

The new bridge will now cut down the travel distance by up to 100 kilometres for heavy vehicles travelling between North Bihar and South Bihar.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union minister Giriraj Singh, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary accompanied the Prime Minister during the event.

Visuals from the inauguration site has surfaced on social media platform X. After the inauguration, PM Modi stood on the bridge and waved his ‘gamcha’ at crowd gathered to get a glimpse of the PM.

In the video, a group of young women were also seen presenting a dance performance in a traditional attire to welcome PM Modi.
