New twists in the Nikki murder case point to betrayal and alleged premeditation. Nikki’s sister Kanchan claimed she had frequent disputes with her husband Vipin Bhati over his affair and alleged that her murder on August 21 was a planned act by Bhati and his family.

Nikki, a make-up artist, had been running her own studio. Kanchan recalled that on February 11, clients witnessed Nikki being brutally beaten. A panchayat was held soon after, following which Nikki returned to her maternal home, she said.

Kanchan revealed that there had been ongoing disputes between Nikki and her husband for the last 8-9 days. She claimed that Nikki discovered her husband’s affair with another woman, leading to frequent arguments.

Was Nikki’s Murder Premeditated?

Speaking to a private news channel, Kanchan said that on August 21, tensions escalated and Nikki was allegedly set on fire by her in-laws. She recounted that Nikki was beaten by her husband and his family, and even recorded a video of the assault. Kanchan maintained that the killing was not sudden but carefully planned in advance.

Kanchan said, “I made the video because people accuse her of dramatics. My sister was burnt alive before my eyes. I tried everything to save her but couldn’t.”

Vipin Had Affairs With Multiple Women

Kanchan also mentioned that Vipin Bhati had relationships with multiple women and was even caught red-handed in Molarband, Delhi. Last year, Nikki’s family captured a video of Bhati with another girl in Delhi, which further supports Kanchan’s allegations.

Here’s What Happened

Nikki was allegedly set ablaze by her husband and in-laws in Greater Noida over dowry, prompting police to arrest her mother-in-law on Sunday, while her husband was shot in the leg after attempting to escape custody. Police said the accused husband, Vipin Bhati, who was arrested a day earlier, has been remanded in 14-day judicial custody.

According to the victim Nikki’s family, she had been harassed for dowry since her marriage in 2016, despite already providing a Scorpio SUV and a motorcycle. They alleged a demand of Rs 36 lakh was also made.

Graphic videos circulating online show Nikki, badly burnt, staggering down a staircase before collapsing, as well as clips of her being dragged by the hair and beaten. She succumbed to burn injuries on Thursday night.

The victim’s six-year-old son, who witnessed the incident, recounted that his mother was first doused with a substance, then slapped, and finally set on fire with a lighter.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kasna Police Station.

According to a PTI report, Nikki’s father, Bhikahri Singh said that both his daughters were married into the Bhati family in 2016 and had faced harassment ever since. Singh alleged that his daughters Nikki and Kanchan were regularly tortured by their husbands Vipin and Rohit, who kept demanding dowry.

“First they asked for a Scorpio, then a Bullet motorcycle. Even after giving those, they demanded Rs 36 lakh,” he said, adding that multiple panchayats failed to resolve the disputes.

Singh also claimed Bhati was unemployed and even stole money from the beauty parlour he had helped Nikki set up. Another relative alleged Bhati had been demanding Singh’s Mercedes or Rs 60 lakh. Nikki’s mother said they had already given a Scorpio, motorcycle, and gold at the weddings, yet the harassment continued.

Meanwhile, an Instagram account carrying Vipin Bhati’s profile photo carried a purported post where he wrote: “Why did you leave me? The world is calling me a killer, Nikki.”
