‘Will Remain An Enduring Symbol Of Honesty’

In a statement shared on social media, Kharge praised Singh for his humility, intellect, and integrity in public life, describing him as a symbol of selfless service and inclusive governance.

Hailing him as a visionary leader and the “gentle architect of India’s economic transformation,” Kharge wrote on X, “A man of humility and wisdom, he carried himself with quiet dignity, letting his actions speak louder than his words. His vision of economic reforms opened new doors of opportunity, creating a thriving middle class and lifting countless families out of poverty.”

Kharge highlighted Singh’s commitment to fairness and social equity, noting that his approach to governance ensured that economic growth was matched by compassion through welfare programs that impacted millions.

“He believed deeply in fairness and inclusivity, ensuring that growth went hand in hand with compassion through welfare measures that touched the lives of millions. His leadership showed us that integrity in public life is not just possible, but powerful,” he added

“For generations of Indians, he will remain an enduring symbol of honesty, intellect, and selfless service to the nation. His legacy will live on in the aspirations of a stronger, more inclusive India. Our humble homage on his birth anniversary,” he further wrote.

‘Singh Was A Patriot, Allegations Are Baseless’: NCP MP On Yasin Malik’s Remarks

NCP MP Praful Patel on Friday defended ex-PM Singh, calling allegations against him “baseless.” Patel stressed that no government can compromise on terrorism and added that had PM Modi been in power after 26/11, he would have ensured incidents like Pahalgam would not have occurred.

Speaking to ANI, Patel said, “Can anyone in this country say that Manmohan Singh was not a patriot?… All these claims are baseless. Terrorism is terrorism, and no one can compromise with terrorism…today, under Modi’s leadership, there is no question of compromising with terrorism…during our government at that time, we saw how 26/11 happened in our country.”

“There have been other terrorist attacks in our country, so no government can compromise on this. But one thing is true: If Modi had been in power after 26/11, he would have taught Pakistan such a lesson that an incident like Pahalgam would not have happened,” he added.

On Friday, Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik told the Delhi High Court that after meeting Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan in 2006, he personally briefed then PM and then National Security Advisor NK Narayanan, yet the same meeting was later twisted to brand him a terrorist.
