Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that India had struck deep inside enemy territory to dismantle terror networks. “Not at the border, we destroyed terror hotbeds 100 km inside their land. A top terrorist of JeM was saying that Masood Azhar’s family was torn apart by India… Pakistan urged for a ceasefire, and we agreed,” Singh said while addressing the Indian community in Morocco’s Rabat.

The minister added that India seeks peace but will not hesitate to act against terrorism. “We want to have good relations because Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to say friends can be changed but not neighbours… We are trying to bring them to the right path. PM too has said that this is just a pause. Operation Sindoor has only been halted… It can be started again,” he said.

Singh is on a two-day official visit to Morocco — the first by any Indian Defence Minister. He landed at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, where he was received by the Head Wali of the Military Command of Casablanca and India’s Ambassador Sanjay Rana. Members of the Indian community also turned out in large numbers to welcome him.

In a post on X, the Indian Embassy in Morocco said, “Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, on a bilateral visit at the invitation of Abdeltif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate for National Defence of Morocco. He was warmly received by senior government and military officials, Ambassador of India Sanjay Rana and members of the Indian community.”

During the visit, Singh will inaugurate Tata Advanced Systems’ new manufacturing facility for the Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP) 8×8 at Berrechid — the first Indian defence manufacturing plant in Africa. He will also hold bilateral talks with his Moroccan counterpart Abdeltif Loudiyi. Singh said the new facility marks an important milestone and reflects the growing global footprint of India’s defence industry.
