The Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasised the need for self-reliance, urging citizens to reduce dependence on other countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with the local taxpayers, traders, and industry representatives to discuss the impact of the recent GST rate rationalisation in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital, Itanagar.
The Prime Minister also handed out placards reading ‘Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai’ (Say it with pride, this is Swadeshi). On several occasions, PM Modi has emphasised the importance of self-reliance and promoting indigenous products.

Even on Sunday, he stressed giving to the spirit of Swadeshi this Navratri. In a tweet, he described the festival as “very special” this year, coinciding with the GST Savings Festival, and urged people to participate in collective efforts toward a developed and self-reliant India.
“This time, this auspicious occasion of Navratri is very special. Along with the GST Savings Festival, the mantra of Swadeshi is going to receive a new energy during this period. Let us come together in collective efforts for the fulfillment of the resolve for a developed and self-reliant India,” he said in a post in Hindi.
