The ancestral home of industrialist Anand Mahindra in Ludhiana collapsed on Tuesday after days of relentless heavy rains in Punjab, where flooding has claimed 30 lives and damaged historical buildings, mansions, and old forts across several districts.
Located in Mohalla Naughara in Ludhiana, the three-storey house was already in a dilapidated condition. Constructed with thin bricks, the building had been vacant for a long time and had deteriorated due to lack of regular maintenance. Although Mahindra Company officials occasionally visited to upkeep the property, the incessant rain had further weakened its walls and foundation.
