Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast on Wednesday said that it has received 5-star safety ratings for its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs under India’s Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP).

According to Bharat NCAP results, the VF 6 scored 27.13 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.41 out of 49 points in Child Occupant Protection (COP). The VF 7 achieved 28.54 out of 32 points in AOP and 45.25 out of 49 points in COP, indicating a high level of protection for both adult and child occupants.

In frontal impact tests, both models achieved full scores for head, neck and upper leg protection for the driver and front passenger. Side impact assessments also resulted in maximum scores, with 16 out of 16 points for adult occupant protection and 8 out of 8 points for child occupant protection for both vehicles.

The pole side impact test further highlighted strong safety performance, with head injury assessment values of 109 for the VF 6 and 131 for the VF 7, significantly below the Bharat NCAP critical threshold of 700.

VinFast’s earlier safety credentials include a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating for the VF 8, along with multiple safety awards in 2024.

Tapan Ghosh, CEO, VinFast India, said the ratings reinforce the company’s engineering capabilities and commitment to safety in one of the world’s largest automotive markets.

Assembled at VinFast’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, the VF 6 and VF 7 are positioned as premium electric SUVs.
