Toyota Urban Cruiser EbellaToyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Tuesday marked its entry into India’s battery electric vehicle market with the launch of the Urban Cruiser Ebella, an electric SUV offered with two battery options and a certified range of up to 543 km.
The model will be available with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs. The higher variant delivers 128 kW of power and 189 Nm of torque, the company said, adding that bookings open from January 20, while prices will be announced later.
Toyota said the vehicle is built on a dedicated BEV platform and supports both AC and CCS2 DC fast charging. The company is positioning the product as part of its “multi-pathway” strategy, which includes hybrids, alternative fuels, and electric powertrains.
“The introduction of the Urban Cruiser Ebella is a key enabler towards our approach to carbon neutrality while leaving no one behind,” Masakazu Yoshimura, Chairman and Managing Director, TKM, said at the launch.
The SUV is equipped with Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems, seven airbags, a 360-degree camera and electronic stability controls. The cabin features a 10.25-inch digital cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats and a panoramic roof.
Toyota said it has readied more than 500 service touchpoints for BEVs and trained over 2,500 technicians. The vehicle will come with an eight-year battery warranty, along with buyback and battery-as-a-service options.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella will be offered in five monotone and four dual-tone colours, with accessory packages for personalisation.
