Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Thursday said that its Jimny 5-door has crossed a cumulative export milestone of 1 lakh units since its launch in June 2023 in India. The vehicle, manufactured exclusively in India, is now exported to more than 100 countries, including Japan, Mexico, Australia, South Africa and Chile.

Following its debut in India, the model entered the Japanese market in January 2025 under the name Jimny Nomade, where orders crossed 50,000 units within days of launch.

Expanding global presence

According to the company, the Jimny 5-door is currently its second most exported model after the Fronx. The SUV features a ladder-frame chassis and Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) system, powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The Jimny has over half a century of heritage globally. Jimny 5-door crossing the 1 lakh export mark is a proud achievement for Maruti Suzuki. We are deeply thankful to customers around the world for their trust in this acclaimed SUV. Jimny’s strong off-road DNA, reliable performance and uncompromising quality have earned admiration in over 100 countries.”

He added that the Jimny, along with 16 other export models from Maruti Suzuki, represents the company’s ‘Make in India for the World’ vision, reflecting the growing global recognition of India as an automobile manufacturing hub.

In the first half of FY26, Maruti has exported over 2 lakh vehicles, an increase of about 40 per cent year-on-year, marking its highest-ever half-yearly export volume.

The carmaker holds an estimated 46 per cent share of India’s passenger vehicle exports, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). In FY25, the company had exported more than 3.3 lakh vehicles.
