Kia India expands automatic range for Kia Sonet with diesel 6AT, turbo petrol 7DCT options

New Delhi: Kia India has expanded the automatic transmission options for the MY26 version of the Kia Sonet, introducing a diesel 6-speed automatic transmission (6AT) and a turbo petrol 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) to make automatic driving more accessible.

The company said the diesel 6AT variant is priced from ₹9,77,900, while the turbo petrol 7DCT starts at ₹9,89,900 (ex-showroom).

With the latest update, Kia aims to expand the availability of automatic transmissions across a wider range of Sonet variants, catering to the growing demand for convenience and ease of driving in urban conditions.

The Sonet is one of Kia India’s key models in the compact SUV segment, offering multiple powertrain options including petrol and diesel engines with manual and automatic transmissions.

According to the company, the move reflects the increasing preference among Indian buyers for automatic vehicles, particularly in congested city traffic where convenience and ease of driving play an important role in purchase decisions.

The MY26 update is expected to further strengthen the Sonet’s position in the competitive compact SUV segment, where it competes with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon.
