Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) on Tuesday announced its entry into the commercial mobility segment with the launch of its dedicated taxi offerings, Prime HB (hatchback) and Prime SD (sedan), aimed at fleet operators and taxi entrepreneurs.

The Prime range has been developed to address high-usage commercial requirements, focusing on reliability, low operating costs and passenger comfort. A 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder engine powers both models and is available with petrol or CNG.

The Prime HB is priced from ₹5.99 lakh, while the Prime SD starts at ₹6.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings have opened across Hyundai dealerships nationwide with a booking amount of ₹5,000.

“Fleet operators and taxi drivers look for vehicles that deliver maximum uptime, predictable maintenance and low operating costs, and the Hyundai Prime range has been developed precisely with these priorities in mind,” said Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO-designate, Hyundai Motor India.

To support high-mileage use, HMIL is offering extended warranty packages covering the fourth and fifth years, or up to 180,000 km, whichever comes first. The company said the total cost of ownership is estimated at 47 paise per km. Flexible finance options with repayment tenures of up to 72 months will also be available, along with support from trained fleet care advisers at dealerships.

The Prime HB and Prime SD offer fuel efficiency of 27.32 km per kg and 28.40 km per kg, respectively, in CNG mode. Both models come equipped with safety and convenience features such as six airbags, rear AC vents, rear parking sensors, central locking, power windows, rear defogger and a company-fitted speed limiting function set at 80 kmph.

The Prime taxi range will be offered in three colour options—Atlas White, Typhoon Silver and Abyss Black—leveraging Hyundai’s nationwide sales and service network to ensure faster turnaround times and higher vehicle uptime for commercial customers.
