Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) on Monday reported domestic sales of 47,837 units in May 2026, a 18.5 per cent decline from 58,701 units sold in the corresponding month last year.

The automaker exported 13,300 units during the month, taking its total sales, including exports, to 61,137 units in May 2026.

The company is expanding its export footprint, using India as a key manufacturing and export hub for several global markets.

Despite the year-on-year decline in domestic volumes, the company highlighted a positive start to FY27, with cumulative domestic sales in April and May reaching 99,739 units.

Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said, “Hyundai Motor India has continued its strong momentum of the year into May as well, achieving domestic sales of 47,837 units and total sales of 61,137 units.”

“In the first two months (April and May) of FY27, HMIL witnessed domestic sales rise by 13 per cent to 99,739 units, compared to 88,235 units in the same period of FY26,” Garg added.

The May performance comes amid a mixed demand environment in the passenger vehicle industry, with several automakers reporting pressure in the domestic market even as exports remain relatively resilient.
