The growth was driven by continued demand for key models such as the Honda Amaze and the Honda Elevate.Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) on Thursday reported a 5 per cent year-on-year increase in domestic sales at 7,585 units in March 2026, compared with 7,228 units in the same month last year.
However, the company’s exports fell sharply to 2,451 units during the month, down from 4,656 units in March 2025, reflecting a significant decline in overseas shipments.
The growth in domestic sales was driven by continued demand for key models such as the Honda Amaze and the Honda Elevate, even as the broader passenger vehicle market showed mixed trends.
“Demand for all Honda models specially Amaze and Elevate continues to be strong with exciting promotions & product offerings which helped us achieve 5 per cent growth during Mar’26,” said Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd.
The company is also expected to enter the electric vehicle segment later this year with the launch of its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV).
Industry observers note that automakers are increasingly relying on domestic consumption amid global uncertainties, though export volatility remains a key challenge for the sector.
