In a decisive move to safeguard students and uphold academic standards, the UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has revoked recognition of all qualifications from Midocean University. The action comes after a joint inspection revealed serious breaches in programme delivery, operational controls, and adherence to national education standards at the university’s Fujairah office.

Compliance inspection uncovers critical violations

The Ministry, working with the Fujairah Free Zone Authority, conducted a thorough compliance inspection at Midocean University’s executive office in Fujairah. Investigators uncovered multiple fundamental issues, including:

  • Offering registration services and educational programmes without required ministry accreditation
  • Running online academic programmes without an established quality assurance mechanism
  • Discrepancies between student and programme records submitted to authorities and the reality observed onsite
  • Engaging in activities inconsistent with UAE legislation governing higher education institutions

These findings highlighted serious shortcomings in the university’s operational processes and programme delivery systems, raising questions about the reliability of its academic records and overall compliance with national standards.

Comprehensive assessment and decision

Following the inspection, MoHESR conducted an extensive verification and technical assessment to determine whether Midocean University met the required national standards. The results confirmed the breaches and prompted the Ministry to withdraw recognition of all qualifications issued by the university. Consequently, Midocean University’s status in MoHESR’s official recognition lists has been updated to “not accredited,” in line with established regulatory procedures.

Protecting students and academic integrity

The Ministry emphasized that the decision is part of its ongoing commitment to protect students and uphold the credibility of academic qualifications across the UAE. Officials noted that ensuring all educational institutions comply with regulatory standards is essential to maintain a trustworthy learning environment and prevent unlicensed or misleading educational activities.Students and parents are urged to verify the licensing and accreditation status of institutions and their programmes before enrolment. Verification can be done through the Ministry’s official website at www.mohesr.gov.ae or by contacting the Customer Happiness Centre at 800511.MoHESR reaffirmed that it will continue strengthening regulatory supervision and governance, working with local and federal authorities to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance in higher education.
