A woman in Jaipur, Rajasthan, allegedly murdered her husband with the help of two friends after being repeatedly subjected to physical abuse and constant suspicion.

According to police, the woman, Santosh Devi, reportedly watched crime web series and researched online to carefully plan the killing of her husband, Manoj, an e-rickshaw driver.

Santosh met one of her co-accused, Rishi Srivastava, while working at a bedsheet factory. As their friendship grew closer, they conspired to kill Manoj. Rishi’s friend Mohit Sharma then joined the plot, NDTV reported.

Police said the three men and the woman searched Google for ways to murder someone without getting caught. They also watched crime web series and studied famous murder cases to perfect their plan.

The accused purchased new SIM cards to avoid detection and scouted possible locations for the crime. On Saturday, Mohit hired Manoj’s e-rickshaw to travel to the ISKCON temple. About 10 minutes into the ride, Rishi joined them, and the e-rickshaw was taken to a deserted farmhouse. There, Manoj’s throat was slit with a sharp bedsheet cutter. After the murder, the two men changed their clothes and appearances and switched off their SIM cards.

Although there were no CCTV cameras at the scene of the murder, police examined footage from surrounding areas to track down the suspects. During interrogation, all three confessed. Police said the planning had started around a month ago.

This case follows another disturbing murder in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. Laxmi Devi and her lover Jitendra Sharma were arrested on Monday night for killing her husband, Hansram.

They allegedly dumped his body in a blue plastic drum on the roof of their rented home. The drum had been borrowed by Laxmi from her landlord, claiming she needed it to store water.

The couple’s three children, who had been taken away by Laxmi and Jitendra, were later returned to their grandfather.
