Rhea reveals she visited a gynaecologist for egg freezing

Rhea Chakraborty reveals she recently visited a gynaecologist for egg freezing, ‘Your body clock says kids, your mind says career’

Rhea Chakraborty has opened up about one of the most personal decisions women in their 30s grapple with — marriage, motherhood and the ever-ticking biological clock. Speaking on her podcast Chapter 2, the actor revealed that she has begun considering egg freezing and has already consulted a gynaecologist.“I am 33 and I recently visited a gynaecologist for egg freezing. I am thinking about doing it,” she told guest Huma Qureshi on her YouTube channel.Reflecting on the conflicting pressures women face, she added, “It is such a weird place to be. Your body clock is telling you that you need to have kids, but your mind is telling you, you already have a kid — your brand, your business — and you have to nurture that baby.”

‘Egg freezing is torturous… but do it if it helps’

In her earlier conversation with Humans of Bombay, she had said that she doesn’t believe in a “right age” to get married and that she wouldn’t mind tying the knot much later in life. She had also questioned why the societal pressure to marry and start a family is placed disproportionately on women, especially because of biological expectations.

Rhea Chakraborty Embraces Self-Love & Creativity

Rhea also spoke candidly about egg freezing, noting that she does not view the process through a romantic or idealised lens. She mentioned that the procedure can be physically challenging but felt women should consider it since the option is available. She further explained that she is still not ready to settle down, emphasising that her professional goals remain a priority. Rhea shared that many of her friends underwent egg freezing in their 20s and 30s, and when she weighs her own options, the idea of delaying motherhood seems more practical for her. She admitted that, at 32, she feels she has much more to accomplish in her career before thinking about starting a family.
