‘Dhurandhar’ earns Rs 2.8 crore in advance ticket sales

‘Dhurandhar’ box office Day 1 advance booking: Ranveer Singh's action film picks up pace with Rs 2.8 crore collection in early sales

Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ is gearing up for a grand debut this Friday, and the early numbers suggest the action drama may just have a good opening. Advance bookings for Day 1, which rolled out 6 days ahead of release, have already sparked excitement among fans and the proof is in the early collections.

‘Dhurandhar’ advance collection

According to early estimates on Sacnilk, ‘Dhurandhar’ has collected Rs 1.28 crore in all-India advance sales from 27,732 tickets across 2,578 shows. The Hindi 2D version has minted Rs 1.12 crore from 25,265 tickets, while premium IMAX 2D shows have contributed an estimated Rs 16.20 lakh from 2,467 tickets sold. With blocked seats factored in, the film’s gross advance tally has climbed to Rs 2.81 crore, setting the stage for a good opening.

State-wise collections

As far as state-wise collections are concerned, Maharashtra is leading the advance-booking charge with Rs 71.38 lakh, followed by Delhi, raking in Rs 64.9 lakh and Karnataka rounding off the top three spots with a collection of Rs 25.85 lakh. Going by the numbers, the film is performing far better in Metro cities. However, it remains to be seen if the numbers increase in the days leading up the Friday release. Meanwhile, trade analysts have also predicted that the film may just be heading for a Rs 20-25 crore start, with much of the ticket sales dependent on word of mouth. ‘Dhurandhar’ runtime, ticket pricesAs per reports, the film will have a marathon runtime, which clocks in at approximately 3 hours 30 minutes. This makes it one of the longest Bollywood films, second only to ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ which released in 2008.Meanwhile, premium formats are commanding high ticket prices. The most expensive ticket for the film is reported to me in Mumbai, with tickets sold at Rs 2,020.

Film runs into controversy

Directed as a high-stakes action spectacle “inspired by incredible real events,” the film stars Ranveer Singh as Indian operative Dhurandhar, who infiltrates Pakistan to eliminate top-tier threats, including characters played by Arjun Rampal (Major Iqbal) and Akshaye Khanna (Rehman Dakait). The cast also features Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Sara Arjun. However, the film has hit turbulence ahead of release. The parents of late Major Mohit Sharma have approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the film, alleging that the movie uses real individuals’ likenesses without consent. The court has asked the CBFC to evaluate the concerns in detail before granting certification, with the Army’s ADGPI expected to weigh in as well. Go to Source
