Ranveer Singh’s zombie thriller ‘Pralay’, directed by Jai Mehta, will begin shooting in September 2026, with major filming in Australia. Made on a Rs 300 crore budget, it’s set to be Ranveer’s most expensive film. Kalyani Priyadarshan is reportedly making her Bollywood debut as the female lead in this post-apocalyptic survival drama.

Ranveer Singh’s much-talked-about zombie thriller ‘Pralay’, helmed by filmmaker Jai Mehta, is now finally set to go on floors after months of speculation surrounding his involvement in the project. Coming off the success of ‘Dhurandhar’, the actor will begin shooting for the big-budget survival drama in September 2026, with a significant portion of filming planned in Australia.

Ranveer Singh kicks off prep for ‘Pralay’

According to Pinkvilla, Ranveer has already started preparing for the film and is deeply involved in its process. He will begin shooting for Jai Mehta’s directorial in the second half of 2026. A significant portion of the film will be shot in Australia, and he has already kick-started prep. Given the scale and genre, the film demands extensive physical as well as emotional preparation.

Ranveer Singh collaborates closely with Pralay’s team

Reportedly, Singh has been closely collaborating with the director and writers as the project takes shape. The upcoming film will be VFX-heavy, and the team is constantly refining the screenplay, visual language and the larger zombie universe.

‘Pralay’ to be Ranveer Singh’s most expensive film

With a reported budget of Rs 300 crore, ‘Pralay’ is set to become the most expensive standalone film in Ranveer Singh’s career. Though Jai Mehta, son of filmmaker Hansal Mehta, is making his directorial debut, the actor is said to have backed the project based on his belief in the script and the young filmmaker’s vision.

Ranveer Singh’s ‘Pralay’ female lead and plot revealed

Officially, the makers are yet to confirm the casting, but reports indicate Kalyani Priyadarshan will make her Bollywood debut with this film, essaying the female lead alongside Ranveer. ‘Pralay’ is set in a post-apocalyptic world, with its narrative following a married couple’s fight for survival in a dystopian Mumbai.
