The US President will hold a meeting at the White House on the evening of Dec. 1 about next steps on Venezuela, CNN reported citing unnamed sources. Key members of Trump’s Cabinet, including Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth, US top army general and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to attend the meeting. The meeting, expected to take place in the Oval Office, comes as the US has increased pressure on Venezuela with strikes on ‘drug boats’ and military buildup in the Caribbean. The US military has amassed more than a dozen warships and 15,000 troops in the region as part of what the Pentagon has branded “Operation Southern Spear.” The president also said last week that the US would be stopping Venezuelan drug trafficking by land, in addition to sea, “very soon.”n18oc_crux | n18oc_world 0:00 INTRODUCTION2:08 LAWMAKERS DEMAND PROBE INTO US BOAT STRIKES5:12 MADURO CALLS ON OPEC TO COUNTER US’ “ILLEGAL THREATS”
