Dhurandar: Karachi cop’s widow objects to his portrayal in trailer

Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar' lands in trouble again: Widow of Karachi cop objects to his portrayal in the trailer and threatens legal action

Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ is creating headlines yet again; however, not for all good reasons. The action-packed drama was recently in the news after the parents of Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal awardee, Late Major Mohit Sharma, approached the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent stay. And now, reports suggest that the widow of Chaudhary Aslam, a Pakistani police officer, has threatened to take legal action if the movie portrays her husband in a false or negative light.According to PTI, in an interview with the Geo Digital platform, Aslam’s wife, Naureen Aslam, mentioned that she is waiting to see the complete movie to understand how the makers have portrayed her late husband. So far, after watching the trailer of the film, she found the use of the words ‘devi and a jinn’ offensive and disrespectful.”We are Muslims and such words are disrespectful not only to Aslam but his mother as well, who was a simple, honest woman,” Naureen Aslam said.

Naureen Aslam threatens to take legal action against ‘Dhurandar’

Naureen said that her husband was a brave warrior and if it showed otherwise, then she would take the matter to court. “If I see my husband being portrayed wrongly or any propaganda against him in the film, I will definitely take all legal steps I can,” she before, adding, “My husband was a brave and courageous police officer, and his name was feared by criminals and terrorists… I am surprised that they have portrayed Rehman Dakait as a big terrorist, although I know from my husband that he was a extortionist, kidnapper and a criminal.”

Who was Chaudhary Aslam?

Chaudhary Aslam was a Pakistani police officer who turned encounter specialist and was lauded for his bravery against terror and criminal gangs in Karachi. He was assassinated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban’s Mohmand chapter, who on January 9, 2014, claimed responsibility for carrying out a bomb attack on his car on the Lyari Expressway. This assassination led to a loss of multiple lives; besides Chaudhary Aslam, there were two other police officers, his driver, and a guard who were also killed. In the movie ‘Dhurandhar,’ headlined by Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt will be playing this character.
