Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said he is confident that US-based electric vehicle major Tesla will set up its first manufacturing plant in India in the state, as he inaugurated the country’s first all-in-one Tesla India Motors Centre in Gurugram.

According to PTI, Saini said Haryana is “not just a market but a manufacturing powerhouse”, serving as a major hub for the automobile, IT and allied industries. He expressed optimism that, alongside a vehicle factory, other Tesla-related units would also be established in the state.

Haryana pitches strong industrial ecosystem

The Chief Minister said the state government has been working to reduce the cost of doing business and create a seamless environment for industries. As part of this, Haryana has rolled out a special leasing policy for industrial plots and strengthened local supply chains in collaboration with established regional manufacturers.
To facilitate global partnerships, the state has set up a dedicated Department of Foreign Cooperation, which Saini said plays a key role in engaging with foreign companies and governments. He added that Haryana’s focus on reforms has placed it among the ‘Top Achievers’ in the national Ease of Doing Business rankings.

Highlighting Haryana’s contribution to the automotive sector, Saini said the state manufactures the highest number of passenger cars in the country. “Haryana has become a land of hope and opportunity, driven by its investment-friendly policies,” he said, noting that the state contributes 3.6 per cent to India’s GDP.

Exports from Haryana have also risen sharply—from ₹70,000 crore before 2014 to more than ₹2,75,000 crore today. The state now ranks second nationally and first in North India in providing logistics facilities to industries.
