'Param Sundari': Instagram removes Pavithra Menon's video slamming Janhvi Kapoor's accent, citing THIS issue

The trailer of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Param Sundari’ received massive love as well as backlash. It was criticized for stereotypical representation of Kerala and Janhvi’s Malayali accent. One of the videos slamming the trailer was of Malayalam singer Pavithra Menon. It went viral on the internet quickly. However, it has been removed from her profile, not by her, but by Instagram. Here’s what happened.

Instagram removes Pavithra Menon’s video of lashing out at Janhvi Kapoor’s Malayali accent in the ‘Param Sundari’ trailer

Pavithra revealed that the social media platform has removed her post after it received a copyright strike from “a third party.” She dropped a screenshot of the notice she received for the same. The message on the notice read, “We removed the following content you posted on Instagram because we received a notice from a third party that it infringes their copyright.”

The singer took a straight dig at the notice and the makers in her caption. She wrote, “Happy Independence Day to everyone who has a voice.”

More about Pavithra Menon’s video

In her video, Pavithra questioned the makers’ decision to not cast a Malayalam actor as the female lead. She said, “What’s the problem in hiring a proper Malayali actor? Hum kam talented hote hain kya?”She added that the Malayalam cinema used to do such things during the 90s when a scene was required to show Punjabis. The singer pointed out that it’s 2025 and people know how a Malayali person talks in general. At the end, she said, “We don’t just wear jasmine flowers and do Mohiniyattam everywhere.”
