Huma Qureshi reveals she was paid Rs 65000 for Gangs of Wasseypur, recalls her bold first meeting with Anurag Kashyap

Huma Qureshi, who made an unforgettable Bollywood debut with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, revisited her early days in the industry during a recent interview. The actress took a nostalgic trip back to the moment she first met Kashyap and how a seemingly ordinary ad shoot turned into the opportunity of a lifetime. She also revealed her salary for the cult classic.

How Gangs of Wasseypur happened

Huma shared that her debut came about after a casting director recommended her for an advertisement, where she first crossed paths with Kashyap.“Gangs of Wasseypur changed my life. I was this young Delhi girl. I went for the ad shoot and I was wearing a lot of makeup, the amount one should wear for advertisements. Anurag Kashyap pointed at my face and asked me, ‘What is this?’ I was in my own attitude and I told him, ‘Mera dasva ad hai, aapka pehla hai (It’s my tenth ad, might be your first).’ I think that’s when he decided I am a fit for the film,” she recalled with a laugh in a conversation with The Indian Express.
