UAE grants visa-on-arrival to eligible Filipinos from June 25; entry fees start at Dh100

Thousands of Filipino travellers now have a simpler way to enter the UAE.Starting June 25, eligible Philippine passport holders can obtain a UAE visa on arrival instead of applying for a visa before travelling. The move, announced by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), is expected to make travel more convenient for tourists, business visitors and families while reflecting the growing ties between the UAE and the Philippines. The announcement comes as the UAE remains home to one of the world’s largest Filipino communities, with around one million Filipinos living and working across the Emirates. Officials said the new arrangement was introduced in recognition of the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.

UAE visa-on-arrival for Filipinos

The new policy does not apply to all Filipino travellers automatically. To qualify, travellers must hold a Philippine passport and also possess a valid visa, residence permit or Green Card issued by one of the following countries:

  • United States
  • European Union member states
  • Australia
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Canada
  • New Zealand

Travellers must present these documents upon arrival in the UAE along with their Philippine passport. Immigration authorities will then assess eligibility and issue the visa on arrival subject to standard entry requirements.

UAE visa rules explained

Eligible travellers will have two visa options when arriving in the UAE.The first is a 14-day visa-on-arrival costing Dh100. This visa can be extended once for an additional 14 days by paying a Dh250 extension fee.The second option is a 60-day visa-on-arrival costing Dh250. However, this longer visa cannot be extended under the current rules. The new arrangement gives travellers greater flexibility depending on whether they are visiting for a short holiday, family trip or a longer stay.

Why the new UAE entry rule matters?

The visa-on-arrival facility removes one of the biggest hurdles faced by many Filipino travellers: obtaining a UAE visa before departure.Instead of completing a separate visa application process in advance, eligible passengers can now complete immigration formalities after landing in the Emirates. Officials believe the change will encourage more tourism, business travel and family visits between the two countries. The DFA described the decision as a reflection of the “excellent bilateral relations” between the Philippines and the UAE, highlighting the growing people-to-people and economic links that connect the two nations.

What you should do?

While the new system simplifies entry, travellers are still advised to prepare all necessary documents before boarding their flight.Passengers should ensure that:

  • Their Philippine passport is valid.
  • Their foreign visa, residence permit or Green Card remains valid.
  • Supporting travel documents are readily available for inspection.
  • They understand whether they require a 14-day or 60-day stay option.

Immigration officials retain the authority to conduct standard checks before granting entry, meaning travellers should verify that all documents meet current requirements before departure.

What’s next

The introduction of visa-on-arrival access marks one of the most significant travel policy changes for Filipinos visiting the UAE in recent years. With easier entry procedures, flexible stay options and strong demand for travel between the two countries, the measure is expected to benefit tourists, business travellers and the large Filipino community that already calls the UAE home. As the policy takes effect, both governments are hoping it will further strengthen an already close relationship built on decades of economic and cultural ties. Go to Source
