Vikram Bhatt booked in Rs 30 crore fraud case by IVF doctor

Vikram Bhatt booked in Rs 30 crore fraud case by IVF doctor; filmmaker calls FIR ‘misleading’, alleges forged documents

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been booked in an alleged Rs 30 crore fraud case in Udaipur, with an FIR also naming his wife Shwetambari Bhatt and six others. The complaint was filed by Dr Ajay Murdia, a prominent doctor and the founder of Indira IVF, at the Bhupalpura police station in Rajasthan.According to the FIR, Dr Murdia was allegedly lured into investing over Rs 30 crore after being promised that a proposed film project would generate profits of around Rs 200 crore. The project was reportedly pitched as a biopic meant to honour Dr Murdia’s late wife. Along with Bhatt, the complaint includes names such as Mehboob and Dinesh Kataria.

Vikram Bhatt responds, calls allegations ‘absolutely wrong’

Reacting to the development, Vikram Bhatt told NDTV that he learned about the FIR only on Monday and strongly denied all allegations.“Yes, I found out today that Ajay Murdia, the founder of Indira IVF, has filed an FIR not just against me but against eight of us,” Bhatt said. “I have read the FIR, and in my view, it is misleading. The police have been completely misguided because the things written in the FIR are absolutely wrong.”Bhatt further suggested that the accusations may have been supported by fabricated documents.“It’s obvious that he must have created some fabricated, forged documents. I don’t know what exactly, but there must be something he used to convince the police,” he claimed.

Bhatt alleges Dr Murdia stalled film mid-production

The filmmaker also accused Dr Murdia of abruptly halting the film Virat during production and failing to clear payments owed to technicians, alleging dues of nearly Rs 250 crore.“He stopped the film Virat midway. And the payment that needs to be made to workers, about Rs 250 crore, has still not been paid. My technicians have called him. I think this is some tactic of his to avoid making payments,” Bhatt alleged. He added that he is ready to cooperate with the investigation and present evidence to the authorities.“What I am saying, I have complete evidence for it. So my request to the police is: if you need proof, come to me, I will show everything. After that, you will know who is right and who is wrong.”
