In a candid interview, Bollywood icon Deepika Padukone shared her unwavering commitment to authenticity, declaring that financial gain will never overshadow her artistic integrity. She stated that she often declines roles that lack a personal connection or meaningful narrative, highlighting that a project’s true essence is far more rewarding than a blockbuster title.

Deepika Padukone reveals she refused ‘a lot of money’

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, Deepika Padukone expressed, “The only non-negotiable is authenticity. Anything that doesn’t feel true to me doesn’t cut it. Sometimes people offer a lot of money and think that’s enough, but it isn’t.”The actress also shared that if there is something she truly feels is authentic and “not commercially big, but I believe in the people or the message,” then she will “stand by it.”

Deepika Padukone on clarity about picking projects

In the same interview, Deepika shared that this kind of clarity has come after working for years in the industry. She said, “Do I sometimes look back and think, ‘What was I thinking?’ Of course. That’s part of learning. Maybe 10 years from now, I’ll question some of today’s choices. But right now, they feel honest.”

Deepika Padukone’s project

Currently, Deepika Padukone is working on Shah Rukh Khan’s next ‘King’, co-starring Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, and others. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film marks the debut of SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan on the big screen. It will also feature Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma, Saurabh Shukla, Raghav Juyal, and more.The film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters next year.She will also feature in Atlee’s film starring Allu Arjun. The working title of the film is ‘AA26xAA6’. Reportedly, Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur, and Janhvi Kapoor are also part of the movie. The official announcement about its release date is yet to be made.
