During the much-anticipated ‘Varanasi’ film event, director S.S. Rajamouli caught everyone off guard when he addressed actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in Malayalam, sparking cheers from the audience. The film’s title video, a captivating fusion of mythology and a worldwide narrative, has set social media abuzz.

Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City witnessed an unexpected and heart-warming moment during the Globetrotter Event of the upcoming film ‘Varanasi’.With nearly 50,000 fans in attendance, director S.S. Rajamouli surprised not just the audience but also actor Prithviraj Sukumaran by addressing him in Malayalam. The celebrated filmmaker took the microphone and called out, “Entha mashe, adippoli!”, leaving the hall roaring with excitement.

Prithviraj, who had just concluded his speech and begun stepping off stage, paused instantly. Responding with the same energy and warmth, he replied in Malayalam, “Namukku Kochiyilum kaananam sir” (“We should also meet in Kochi sir.”)Mahesh Babu, the protagonist of ‘Varanasi’, was seen smiling with genuine amusement as the crowd erupted in applause. Prithviraj’s wife Supriya was also present in the audience.

Varanasi title video raises curiosity worldwide

The event also showcased the title announcement video of Varanasi, which has left fans across the globe intrigued. The film will span multiple eras and continents, weaving mythological influences—particularly elements from the Ramayana—into its storyline.

Several popular celebs have shared the teaser for ‘Varanasi’. ‘KGF’ director Prashanth Neel reacted to the teaser by Tweeting, “Take a bow, @ssrajamouli sir! @urstrulyMahesh looks absolutely charming. Super excited #GlobeTrotter #Varanasi rajamouli ss.” Karan Johar shared, “Epic!!! The one and only SS Rajamouli.” Anirudh Ravichander Tweeted, “Our dear superstar @urstrulyMahesh gaaru!! #Varanasi What a highhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.” Telugu actor Brahmaji compared the teaser to James Cameroon’s ‘Avatar’. The ‘Pushpa’ actor Tweeted, “OMG… Avatar ki baap hi….”

About ‘Varanasi’

Directed by SS Rajamouli, ‘Varanasi’ is set for Sankranti 2027 release. The movie’s narrative is combined with Ramayana and the recently releaased glimpse shows Mahesh Babu as Rudhra, Priyanka Chopra as Mandakini and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the villain character Kumbha.
